Facilities Manager
Other Job Titles: This title is specific to Royal Caribbean. Other cruise lines typically refer to this position as a Public Area Supervisor and Crew Area Supervisor.
Job Description: Oversees maintenance and repair of facility’s furnishings (including plants), plumbing, carpentry, lighting, and sound.
Experience and Skills Required: Minimum of three years managing facilities on a cruise ship or in a luxury hotel.

Butler
Other Job Titles: Ultra luxury cruise lines such as Silversea Cruises, Azamara Club Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas have Butlers. But, some stateroom categories on select cruise lines such as NCL and Cunard Line also have butlers.
Job Description: Assist with packing and unpacking; Delivers room service; Makes reservations; Book shore excursions; Set up cocktail parties; Depending on cruise line, the butler is also the stateroom steward.
Experience and Skills Required: At least two years experience as a butler in a luxury hotel or on a cruise ship; Post secondary and/or hospitality management accreditation; Food and beverage background is an asset; Preference given to those taught in a butler academy; Fluent in English as well as another language.
Average Salary: $1,500+ per month
Captain’s Steward
Job Description: Cleans the Captain’s cabin; Cleans the other senior officer cabins in the same deck areas; Delivers meals as requested; Sets up Captain’s conference room with food and beverage as requested.
Experience and Skills Required: At least one contract as an officer’s cabin steward. Experience in a high volume luxury hotel is an asset.

Stateroom Steward
