P&O Cruises has roots that date back to 1837. In 1904 the company offered its first pleasure cruises. During the 1960’s as air transportation became more popular to cross the Atlantic, P&O Cruises started to market their cruises more as a vacation rather than a means. They also stuck to catering to the British market instead of to the North American market, where they still have carved their own niche.
P&O Cruises currently has a fleet of seven ships, some of which are family-friendly while other ships such as Adonia and Arcadia are exclusively for adults. Their itineraries cruise to worldwide destinations and they employ an international crew.
